Platform Engineer – Firmware/Linux

About the Role

We are looking for a Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Linux and firmware to work on our bare-metal infrastructure. You will optimize system performance and ensure our hardware runs at peak efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain custom Linux distributions for bare-metal servers
• Optimize firmware and BIOS settings for maximum performance
• Implement automated provisioning and configuration management
• Debug and resolve low-level system issues
• Work with hardware vendors on driver and firmware updates
• Performance tuning and benchmarking of storage and network systems
• Contribute to infrastructure automation tooling

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience with Linux systems at a low level
• Deep understanding of Linux kernel, systemd, and boot processes
• Experience with firmware updates and BIOS/UEFI configuration
• Strong knowledge of storage systems (NVMe, RAID, filesystems)
• Networking expertise (TCP/IP, bonding, SR-IOV)
• Proficiency in C, Python, or Go
• Good communication skills in German and English

Nice to Have

• Experience with IPMI/BMC management
• Knowledge of PCIe and hardware interfaces
• Contributions to open-source projects
